Sadly, Sam Schatten was not able to win his battle with the cancer demon. We send our condolences and warmest thoughts to Janet, their children, and Sam's extensive family and friends for this unthinkable loss.

He did put up a good battle and that's all one can do and hope for the best.Unfortunantly for him and his family, G-d had other plans. We have to accept His will.Michelle S

Elyse,
Just heard this weekend (while at Sam's burial) about you illness. Needless to say I was saddened, but I am happy to hear you had surgery and all went well. Keep heart, in a few weeks you will be able to get your arms up and wash your hair without pain (I had a thoracoscopy and thoracoplasty in 06). If you ever just want to talk please give me a call, I have all sorts of new perspectives developed in the last 3 1/2 years.
Thinking of you,
Paul Rubin

Hi, I just ran across this while I was googling Sam's name. I heard only yesterday about Sam's passing after emailing a cousin of mine in Atlanta about my dad's passing. I was Sam's first patient when he came back to Atlanta. He was the one who got me back on my feet. He was not only a great doctor, but a great friend. I would dearly love to get in contact with Janet. If you could please contact me through my website, I'd really appreciate it.
