I just viewed for the first time the Lotsa Helping Hands website. I am overwhelmed by the number of volunteers. It was also nice to see the well-wishing comments on that site, as well.

According to the radiation oncologist, there are no dietary restrictions during treatment, but I may prefer drinking my meals at times. Of course, I won't know until I get started. I do think there could be some significant restrictions from the chemotherapy treatments. I will know more about that this week, so stay tuned. I will post the dietary info on this blog, as well as the Lotsa Helping Hands website.

I am looking forward to taking Brent to camp tomorrow. He is excited, and of course he's glad that I'm coming.

Hope you're enjoying the weekend, and the mild Atlanta weather.

If YOU " (you in this case I am taking creative liberties: You = this inexpicable illness) even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize. " M.Ali

As requested:

A boy called on his girlfriend at her 10th story Buckhead apt in readiness for their date. While she was getting dressed, he played ball in their lounge with her tiny dog. Unfortunately the door to the balcony was open and when the ball bounced out the door and over the ledge of the balcony, the little dog followed it.

A few moment s later the girl appeared. The boy immediately said: "Have you noticed your dog has been acting depressed lately?"

Patient: "Fantastic - you should come to my house sometime and see my collection - I've got hundreds of them.."

Staying on my favorite topic-

Psychiatrist Hotline :

If you are obsessive-compulsive, please press 1 repeatedly

If you are co-dependent, please ask someone to press 2

If you have multiple personality disorder, please press 3,4,5 and 6

If you are schizophrenic, please listen carefully and a little voice will tell which number to press

If you are paranoid-delusional, we know who you are and what you want. Just stay on the line until we finish tracing the call

If you are manic depressive, it doesn't matter which number you press - no one will answer

Finally some topical stuff..

Michelle Obama, Barack Obama’s wife, was on “The View” yesterday. She managed to do something on that show that no one else has ever done: She got a word in edgewise.

Happy birthday to Paula Abdul — 46 years old today. If you’re looking for a gift, you can’t go wrong with something from Bed Bath & Waaaay Beyond or you can't go wrong with a new Rx prescription.

Very embarrassing for her at her party: She showed up wearing the same dress as Ryan Seacrest.

Yesterday on “The View,” Barack Obama’s wife Michelle did the "fist-bump" with all the co-hosts, and then she said the fist-bump is “the new high-five.” After hearing this, John McCain asked, “What the hell is a high-five?”

The latest rumor is now that Hillary Clinton lost the Democratic nomination, she’s going to divorce Bill Clinton. Hillary’s exact quote was, “Just because my dream didn’t come true doesn’t mean his shouldn’t.”

In California, Americans are flocking to Tijuana, Mexico to fill up their cars because gas is 50 percent cheaper there. Even better, the gas is free if you take two Mexicans home in your trunk.

Here’s some happy news: Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee are a couple again. It’s hard to keep track of that pair. And Tommy and Pamela.

Britney Spears’ sister, Jaime Lynn, gave birth to a baby girl. Which then gave birth to another baby girl.

Barack Obama says he will not accept $85 million of public financing for his campaign. I guess he’s raising more money on his own, but passing on $85 million . . . Here are some things you can buy with $85 million: 85 million items at the 99 cent store . . . $85 million could get you a whole summer’s worth of gas . . . or with $85 million, you could buy Heather Mills.

All for now Ali - keep up your mental and physical strength and keep moving so you " can keep floating and stinging that illness like a bee.."

Fellow bloggees/ers?, Elyse, John and the doctors are taking care of the physical aspect of this disease. Let's band together and help with the spiritual. Whoever is able to, Psalm 20 is very appropriate to say for a friend/loved one across the miles, for a complete recovery. So say daily Psalm 20 and keep in mind for a complete and quick recovery for Elyse (Esther Leah Bas Raizel- Hebrew name).ALso if we want something from G-d let's offer Him something- every day do an extra good deed and keep in mind it's for Elyse's quick and complete recovery. Elyse, John and Brent stay strong and good luck. Michelle S

It sounds like you are progressing through the normal stages: having moved past wallowing in the suckiness of it all into a full frontal attack on the nastiness. We've been there and are here to tell the tale. So may it be with you. Take car & be strong; you are in our thoughts.

From Justin's experience...when/if food starts to taste funny try using plastic utensils. I know it sounds crazy, but there are some schools of thought that the stainless/silver/whatever imparts a funny taste to those who are having radiation/chemo treatment. Heck, its worth a try! Aslo, if you could guide as to what foods you are liking - spicy seems very popular...
Stay strong!

Elyse

Feel good to read you are feeling so positive especially after receiving a specific plan of attack from your physicians. It sounds like you are in great hands. I have no doubt that with your spirit you will have a complete recovery. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Coincidently, I met your mother yesterday.

Take Care,

Marty
